Cypress naturally resists wood decay, and its uses reflect that. In addition to
dependable outdoor furniture, cypress is regularly used in building construction,
posts, beams, decks, docks, porch flooring, greenhouses and siding. Because of its
durability, cypress can be used in many of the same products as cedar and redwood.
The reason for this durability is a natural preservative oil known as "cypressene"
which gives the heartwood resistance to insect attack and rot.
Cypress is a close-grain wood that is resistant to checking and warping. The
cypress in this product is kiln-dried before manufacturing and ready for staining.
